Looking back, I can say that when I received this answer to my prayers, I was at one of the most spiritually high moments of my life. Within a cultural group marriage is hard. You would be her back up plan in case she can't find a guy who is a returned missionary, preferably from a prominent LDS family.
Then again, I doubt any man who's not in medicine is willing to put up with the sacrifices of being a neurosurgeons husband. Marriage is hard, period. It is not the norm. I feel selfish to never be around but this is my dream so much so that I refuse to have children because I dont want my kids to have a workaholic mother who's never there. But when my oldest daughter hit 12, the lessons started to have one major theme: This is what girls are told should be their primary goal. But I do believe in modern prophets and that God gives no commandment that is not for our own happiness.
But I don't want to put any more demands on his time, which is why I thought maybe asking for quick phone call on his drive home might help. We have been married 2 years and have a 4 month old baby. She will want her kids blessed, baptized, taking temple trips to baptize for the dead, hold the priesthood, a bishop will ask you sons and daughters if they masterbate and punish them if they do, etc. Our relationship is not perfect, not easy, but absolutely amazing. He also brought up issues with the church when we discussed religion so slowly he brought to light some disturbing facts and even though I would have denied it, it got to me. Things have worked out pretty well with us so far.
